“People say I don’t have great tools. They say that I can’t throw like Ellis Valentine or run like Tim Raines or hit with power like Mike Schmidt. Who can? I make up for it in other ways, by putting out a little bit more. That’s my theory, to go through life hustling. In the big leagues, hustle usually means being in the right place at the right time. It means backing up a base. It means backing up your teammate. It means taking that headfirst slide. It means doing everything you can do to win a baseball game.”

Be sure to bring your wood bats and leave the metal at home. Please make as many of these as possible and come ready to work so we can have a little fun this summer.

Luis Lopez Award – Most Valuable Utility Player: This player played multiple positions effectively.

Charlie Hustle Award: This player has only one speed between the lines and usually the dirtiest uniform.
Winner: Devin Sarkady

Rood Memorial Award – Most Outstanding Pitcher: Pitched often, pitched well, and pitched “Without Fear”.
Winner: Chad Morris

Braves Unsung Hero Award: It is not any one thing or any one player that makes the Braves a successful team. It is a total team effort which includes intangibles. This award is for the player that without their contribution, the team would not be the same.
Winner: Mike Herdzina

Memorable Moments from the 2010 season

• Scotties’ walk off run-rule homer against the Titans stud to end the game.
• The collective win and beat down of the Titans.
• Richie laying completely horizontal and catching a line drive at 3rd.
• Watching Happyfeet Lansford catch fly balls was always entertaining.
• Shark’s overall improvement as a hitter.
• Burbes’ monster double vs. the Bombers at Concordia (after being robbed on a foul ball call)
• Mullet Buddies – Deegan and Lankes! Who says a tight jersey can’t be sexy!
• Walk off run rule by Scott at Anderson, not even knowing he ended the game!!
• Lankes getting picked off 2nd (two games in a row).
• Olsen making the drives from Dallas – batting cleanup, stealing bases, like he never missed a game.
• Run-ruling the freakin’ Titans with Scottie’s walk-off.
• Chad’s total befuddling shut out of the Bombers
• The Triple play at Town & Country
• The 402 foot bomb by Forrest at Concordia that short hopped the wall.
• Prosperi playing with a cast and the wrong jersey.
• Playing at Concordia and being welcomed with a turd on home plate.
